An Open Event is for gatherings where everyone in the circle is welcome and you don’t need to know who’s coming: a Saturday brunch, live music at the club, a weekly run or an open lab evening. In the app it’s labeled Open event (no RSVP), and members see “No RSVP needed — just come.”
Open Events are currently available only in organizations. You create them in one of your organization’s circles. Organizations →

How it’s different

Who sees it

An Open Event is created inside one of your organization’s circles and shared only with that circle’s members. When it goes live, it appears in the circle and on members’ calendars. No invitations or messages go out, so there’s no messaging cost. It’s as light as posting in the circle, but it lands on the calendar like an event.

Create an Open Event

1

Open the circle

In your organization, go to the circle whose members the event is for, and open its Events tab.
2

Create the event

Create a new event and choose Open event (no RSVP). Add the name, date, time and venue, plus a banner and event template so it stands out in the circle.
3

Go live

Make it live. It appears in the circle for every member, and they just come.

Need a headcount after all?

You can change an Open Event into an RSVP Event later, and members will then be asked whether they’re coming.
This only works one way. Once an event has collected RSVPs, it can’t be changed back into an Open Event.

When to use which

  • Everyone in the circle is welcome and numbers don’t matter: Open Event
  • You need to know who’s coming, for food, seating or space: RSVP Event
  • People sign up, pay, or need your approval: Registration Event
