# The Event Wall

> Post updates on your Event Page that every guest sees, and notify them straight away.

Every Event Page has a **wall** at the bottom: **Updates from the host**. It's a running feed of everything you've told guests about the event, and the one place they can scroll back to.

## Post an update

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open your Event Page">
    Click **Post Update** at the top of the page, or scroll down to **Updates from the host**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write your message">
    Type it in the box. Use **+** to add a photo.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send">
    The update appears on the wall under **Broadcast History**, and every guest is notified straight away on their own channels.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The wall is **broadcast only**: hosts and co-hosts post, and guests read. Important changes to the event itself, such as a new name or date, are recorded in the history too.

## When to post

* **Something has changed** and it can't wait: parking has moved, doors open later, bring an umbrella.
* **You've added something** you want guests to look at: the schedule is published, the menu is in the Event Folder, the photo album is open.
* **A thank-you** after the event.

<Note>
  You don't need to post every time you set something up. When you turn on event tools after the invitations have gone out, Fast Party gathers the changes into a **digest the next day** automatically. Post Update is for when you want guests to know **now**.
</Note>

## Wall post, event broadcast or alert?

| Use | When |
| - | - |
| **Wall post** | Everyday news. It stays on the Event Page for guests to find later. |
| **Event broadcast** | A direct message to your guests, with a subject and an image, sent from the **Custom Message** tab of the [Event Dashboard](/private-events/event-dashboard#event-broadcast). |
| **Alert** | The date, time or venue has changed, or the event is canceled. See [Message types](/notifications/message-types#alert). |
